<description>Florian Böhm (born 1969) lives and works in Munich. His practice focuses on unintentional forms and accidental expressions in everyday life. Through conceptual photography, he investigates contemporary perception and develops a distinct visual vocabulary for urban experience.

His work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Kunst-Werke Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin), Storefront for Art and Architecture (New York), Haus der Kunst (Munich), Fondazione Adriano Olivetti (Rome), and the Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain (Paris).

Böhm co-founded EndCommercial® / Reading the City, a visual archive of contemporary urban life comprising more than 60,000 images. The project received international critical attention in publications such as The New York Times, Domus, Artforum, and Kunstforum International, and contributed to expanding the visual language used to interpret urban environments.

In the photographic series Wait for Walk, Böhm extends his urban typologies through an anthropological lens. Created in New York, the series captures fleeting constellations of passers-by waiting at intersections. The sidewalk becomes a stage where the metropolis briefly pauses; the flow of traffic acts as a metaphorical shutter curtain. The works reveal subtle social choreographies shaped by gesture, posture, and chance, balancing accidental groupings with the appearance of staged composition.

Alongside his artistic practice, Böhm works as editor, author, and designer. His publications include KGID – Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (Phaidon Press, 2005), Commedia dell’Arte – Couture Edition (Birkhäuser, 2009), Wait for Walk (Hatje Cantz, 2007), PANORAMA (Vitra Design Museum, 2014), and Cookbook Book (with Annahita Kamali, Phaidon, 2014).
